Defensive Driving For Dummies offers online state-approved courses to dismiss speeding tickets and keep insurance premiums low. We currently offer traffic school courses in Arizona, California, Florida, and Texas through trusted partners.
While we do not yet offer courses in other states we can help shed some light on what you should look for (list below). More importantly, we can help you avoid some of the common pitfalls drivers fall into registering for the wrong online traffic school.
Be cautious of online traffic schools that advertise “20 years in business”. While this might seem counter-intuitive, the number of years a school is in business isn’t always a good thing. Some defensive driving course providers rely on the same materials they developed when the first launched their service many years ago; cobbling together new footage into old video to keep up with changing state laws.
This means you’ll find yourself watching hours of grainy footage that alternates between frizzy haired actors hoping into their new 1987 Trans Am and cut-aways of new shots of Bob the intern filling in the information gaps.
Oftentimes the quality of the site you see when you first go to an online traffic school provider is what you’ll get throughout the rest of the course. If the site uses clipart and animated gifs, you can almost certainly bet their content will be similar.
Imagine meeting someone who tells you “Hello, my name is Mary and I’m funny.” Humor is subjective. Humor in a driver safety program is humor on a balancing act. Enter with cautious optimism.
